Privacy Policy | InsTranscript

How InsTranscript handles public video links, transcript requests, cookies, usage limits, and service providers.

About this policy

InsTranscript helps you turn public Instagram Reels and TikTok videos into text. This policy describes the data used by the transcript tool. The tool is independent of Instagram and TikTok.

Information used to provide a transcript

When you submit a link, we process the public video URL and send it to our transcription provider so the requested transcript can be produced. We return the transcript to your browser. The current transcript endpoint does not create a user account or save the generated transcript in a InsTranscript account history. A processing provider may separately retain request data under its own terms and privacy policy.

We also process a signed device cookie, a privacy-preserving network identifier, request time, and request counts to enforce free daily limits and reduce abuse. Hosting and security systems may process ordinary technical logs, including your IP address and browser information. Your browser may hold the transcript temporarily while the page is open and when you choose to download a file.

Provider and platform access

Depending on the server configuration, a submitted public video URL is sent to Supadata for caption retrieval or speech transcription, or to ScrapeCreators to resolve the public video file. In the latter workflow, the resolved video file URL is sent to Groq, fal, or Replicate for speech transcription. The default configuration uses Groq Whisper. The selected provider processes the video's audio and returns text; timed segments and speaker labels may also be returned. InsTranscript does not download or permanently host the video in this workflow.

See the processing providers' privacy and data policies: Groq API data handling, Groq privacy policy, Supadata, ScrapeCreators, fal, and Replicate. Instagram and TikTok may also process your visit to their own websites under their policies; InsTranscript does not operate those platforms.

Cookies and retention

A signed cookie identifies a browser for the daily free allowance. The server stores limited quota records needed to count requests. We do not publish submitted links or transcripts. Operational logs and provider records may be retained for service delivery, security, troubleshooting, and legal requirements. Exact retention periods depend on the hosting and processing providers in use.

Sharing and your choices

We share the submitted public URL with the transcription provider to fulfill your request. We may use hosting and security providers to operate the site. We do not sell transcripts. You can stop using the tool, clear the device cookie in your browser, and choose not to submit a link. Clearing a cookie does not reset the server's network and site-wide usage safeguards.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above shows the most recent revision. For privacy questions, contact support@instranscript.io.
